Google Daydream VR Support has begun rolling out to the Galaxy S8, apparently the Note 8 will get it to. This would make Samsung devices the best supported VR devices around wouldn't it? Considering they have Oculus support with Gear VR which already has quite a bit of content and now Google Daydream, very impressive.
Galaxy S8 Daydream rollout begins as Google promises support on 11 phones by end of year

Thats great to hear. But technically even the S7 & NFE should be compatible right? Im sure SAMSUNG wont do that even if they could though

Daydream is down to Google. The Galaxy S7 range could easily run Daydream content, considering the other devices supported, but Google are not letting older phones in, unfortunately.

Anyone remember a time not so long ago when we were told the Galaxy S8 and S8+ were seeing lower sales? To jog your memory, it was all backed up by a whole lot of unsubstantiated evidence and basic assumption.
Well, that make this rather awkward ....
Samsung reports record $9.7 billion profit
the mobile department.
It made Samsung $3.7 billion in operating profit, riding on the coattails of robust Galaxy S8 and S8+ sales that Samsung said are 15% higher than the ones of the S7 last year.

$3.7bn from the mobile division alone, if that's poor performance then I really need to reevaluate how I judge performance

Very good read Aussie! Amazing how close they are, in other benchmarks the 8895 beat th 835.
I guess they are bound to be close as both are built by Samsung in the end.
I always find Exynos smoother though, with the Note 4 the Snapdragon (which I had) generally got better benchmark scores, especially in GPU than the Exynos, yet the Exynos ran smoother overtime update after update, it maintained it performance better.

THIS!
This is what users SHOULD be looking for - along with the Intel Atom cpu's (if they ever show up again) in terms for specs and performance comparison!
One should ask what CPU is the standard that Android and ASOP are vetted against, along with developers with their apps in PlayStore based on?! Therein lies where the refinement along with the API's mentioned. Should Samsung push Google to use their cpu's as a standard as well and publish accordingly to developers - having them code specifically catered then maybe soon enough we'll see a performance increase on Exynos? That's what I'm understanding from the final page of that comparison.
I just got the Xperia Z5C as my daily driver - a transition from iOS over this month. I'm hoping I'll finally like Android, if the Z5C doesn't win me over then potentially the S8 Active from AT&T (cross border purchase) late August may be worth a final try.

I like the idea of a standard CPU but I am not that there is one for Android. Surely though something close would be the top of the range snapdragon for the respective year I.e. 810 or 820 or 835 as the nexus /pixel phones seem to use it |

Problem with 1 standard CPU is stagnation. We need the competition and variety.
Can you imagine if Qualcomm was the only option when the distaster that was Snapdragon 810 and 808 happened?
I hope we we continue to have at least 2 major chip manufacturers that have 2 different takes on mobile SoCs. Such a shame Texas Instruments left the mobile industry, the legendary TI OMAP2420 is what made the Nokia N93, N93i, N95, N82 and E90 such incredible mobile devices.

I wish Apple sold their chips just to see how they work with Android. |

I am not advocating for a unique CPU to be used for all manufacturers- of course competition is good. However it would be nice if one at least was the standard against which the software is optimised by both manufacturers and app developers |

Samsung adopting Google's ARCore, coming to Galaxy S8 and Note 8
Samsung has partnered with Google to adopt ARCore, Google's augmented reality platform, and it will bring the experience to its Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 8.
Google announced ARCore earlier this year and it is a rival technology to the already available ARKit on Apple devices. The iPhone 6s and newer iPhones all support the feature and there are already quite a few interesting apps that make use of AI on the iOS platform.
With Samsung joining the Google ARCore camp, developers will now be able to write augmented reality apps for two of the most popular series of Android phones: the Google Pixels and Samsung's Galaxies.

That's nice ... but where is the Samsung Galaxy S9 thread / rumour thread already?! Bring it on!
For the first time I want it to MOP the FLOOR with the iPhone X! It's the ONLY way Apple engineering team, and their executives and revenues will STOP being so SMUG and actually really push their limits and bring in the price range to normal level's not this Starbucks Coffeee drinking smug "I'm rich In cliché" crowd.
I want pure competition on merits of pure technology and pricing (economies of scale) to be shown.
