No it's not. But does it really matter ? It is an upgrade, what more can one expect ? No quantum leaps in technology these days

You know what I'm loving here? Nobody is making excuses and apologizing for Samsung, had I posted similar comments in a Sony thread I'd be labelled a troll and told by those WHO THINK they run the forum to leave the thread

No doubt, the Galaxy S5 will blow ALL its competitors out the water in sales and probably in performance and updates to, but we Samsung users are so used to a high level of specs and features that the S5, in my opinion is a disappointment, if it was another Android maker that made it it would have been considered very good, but this is Samsung.
I'm getting the feeling Samsung are reserving the beast specs for the Note series, it seems the Note series going forward is where to go if you want the most premium and top shelf hardware. By putting 2GB RAM in the S5 and 3GB in the Note 3, plus 16&32GB variants only for S5, while there is only 32GB and 64GB for the Note series, the Galaxy S range is truly 'mass market' now, made for the average user, not the power user, thats what the Note series is for, IMO.

I just thought of something, remember how Samsung changed the Galaxy S2 CPU spec after announcement? Could they do that with the S5? I'd love to get 3GB RAM in there at least!

Thats the thing, with Samsung you're guaranteed timely OS Updates, High functionality and so on, I'd find it hard to leave. Sony Z, Z1 and Ultra still waiting for 4.4, same with LG, great phones, but SW updates? G2 still no 4.4, and the Optimus G Pro1 has barely seen support after 4.2.2.
HTC are my final hope, I hope the ONE 2 is a beast.
I think most company are more or less on par now with software, samsung extra functionality has become lesser with every new release because others has stepped up. 1-2 months parts for update at least going by last round of flagship. Really not that big of a deal personally, as long as they support it for the 18 months post release. |

@ Tsepz_GP - I kind of disagree with you though. I only know one person with a Note and of the people I see in the street carrying them, they're all women ! Are women the Android power users ?
Thankfully my contract isn't up until May 30th - the day I signed up to the S3. So, ive a couple of months at least to think about my next phone.

As a Note user I would be very happy if the Note will stay orientated towards the power user. One thing I don't understand is why they made s5 larger than s4? I could see if th resolution was higher but it is not so why make it larger? To me for normal consumer 5 inches screen should be the maximum size- already I know people that think that s4 is too large |

They're all getting bigger though. The Z2 is bigger than the Z1.
Im happy with my S3's 4.8" screen, I don't mind it getting a little bigger but it also means the bezels get larger too. GSM Arena say they expect the S5's bezel to be bigger due to the water-proofing.
Also they say " The camera does, however, record QHD video - Samsung's initial information was for 1080p, but we can now confirm it's really QHD (2160p)."
I couldn't care less about 4K recording, or whatever its called, as at the moment I don't own a 4K TV, I don't know anyone that does and I have no future plans to buy one being quite happy with a full HD 1080 tv.

There still appears to be some minor confusion over the Snapdragon used. Some sites say 800, some 801.
It doesn't make much difference though according to the early benchmarks which put it at the top of the chain again. For a couple of months anyway.

It is snapdragon 801 just like on sony z2. It is actually clocked at 2.5 which is more than on z2. 801 is not a major upgrade from 800 apparently it is more like a s800 clocked at higher frequency. Never the less the performance should be better than the one on s800.
In terms of size increase I meant body of the phone. Essentially s5 is taller and wider than s4. I don't mind large phones (I have a note 3 and a lumia 1520) but I am afraid it is reaching a limit where it will be considered too large by normal consumers. Hopefully I am wrong though |
