Has anyone heard when genie will release a GPRS Tarrif? On sonyericsson's site - The wap configurer - Genie GPRS is an option, however, it doesnt work with my Genie sim and T68. Anyone got it working? or heard anything about it?

I saw an advert somewhere, it was a Genie package with the new "POGO" phone, it offered GPRS for a monthly fee. |

I'm not sure if you mean the Genie service or BTCellnet. I'm on BTC and I've talked to them loads of times about this. They are really unhelpful and i've been getting replies from them saying their full IP service will be available from a months time to end of April!!!
If you give them a ring and ask to be put through to their GPRS helpline they will put you on a list and inform you as soon as the service is launched. I've had so many arguments with them as it's been available on all the other networks and they have nothing to say. Unfortunately for now all we can do is wait or change network!

Yeah, genie (BT Cellnet) I dont understand what the problem is is BT Cellnet have a GPRS Network! What i wanna know, is when it is released...will WAP still be free? As we will no longer be paying by the minute. It will be interesting what the GPRS Tarrfis will be....

If your getting WAP for fee already, what's the problem? What are you expecting from GPRS that you don't get from GSM? The only real advantage of GPRS is reduced costs... but you don't pay for your WAP so I don't get it! |

Because with GPRS, MMS will then be able to be used and i will be able to connect to the internet from my laptop when i am away on business at a much better speed than on a GSM network.....does that answer your question!

Bit confused........
I'm on Cellnet, simply called them, said I wanted a GPRS account set up and 10 minutes later I was up and running?
They charge you a set fee for the first meg or so of data and then an amount per kb thereafter.
I am a BT Cellnet select customer but cant see why that would make a difference? |

Cellnet are not Genie. They use the same network and are part of the same company, but are not the same Network providers. So Bt Cellnet would have nothing to do with getting GPRS with genie

Hey alec what serive have they given you? I am with BTC and yes I called up and got GPRS activated immediately but it is only for WAP, it does not allow IP connections. They told me that servie would be available later. What service are you on? £7.99 a month? What's your APN?
